Title Author Description Owner
Home Beermaking William Moore A fairly short (60 pages) introduction to the hobby. It was a freebie with my first equipment kit. Not much detail, but really good for the total newbie. Ben Schafer
Homebrewing for Dummies Marty Nachel Like most of the "dummies" books, actually very well written and an easy yet serious introduction to homebrewing. Contains three recipes (All extract, specialty grain, all-grain) for most of the beer styles in the AHA hierarchy. Ben Schafer
The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, 3rd edition Charlie Papazian Probably one of the "bibles" of homebrewers. Well written, very informative, lots of recipes Ben Schafer
Kolsch Eric Warner Part of the "Classic Beer Styles" series. Intense book on the history, brewing techniques and recipes for Kolsch. Ben Schafer
Clone Brews Tess and Mark Szamatulski Great book with 150 recipes for clones of commercial brews from around the world. We aren't talking Bud and Coors here. We are talking Sam Adams, Burt Grant Imperial Stout, Newcastle Brown Ale, etc. Contains three versions for each - specialty grain only, mini-mash, and all grain. Ben Schafer
Radical Brewing Randy Mosher This might be sacrilige (because it isn't one of the normal "bibles" of brewing), but probably my favorite beer book to just read. Very informative and scientific (approachable however). Great recipes from a guy willing to experiment with what makes beer good. Ben Schafer
Beer Advocate Magazine NA A new (2007) monthly magazine from the guys who do "Beer Advocate" the website. Focuses on the good commercial beers out there. Ben Schafer
Homemade Liqueurs Dona Meilach Not truly "brewing" but a great book for someone who wants to experiment with making flavored spirits. The apricot cordial from here is THE BEST. Ben Schafer
